Tips for Choosing Extended Farmhouse Tables

Posted on July 24, 2017

Extending tables are a very sensible option where space is a constraint. These dining tables prove to be extremely convenient if you are amongst those whose place is the favourite hangout for friends or family. When you think of extending tables though, they are often more functional than good looking since there are a lot of restrictions in terms of designs.
Extending tables can also be relatively expensive as compared to non extendoing dining tables thanks to their particular design. Although the extending tables are the option to adapt to the changing dining needs or space constraints, thought also needs to be given to the space available when the table is extended. If there is hardly any space to move around or adjust chairs around it, the entire idea of the extending table is wasted.
Extending dining tables usually come in three peculiar style;
1. The draw leaf type where in the leaf slides out from under the table top
2. The drop leaf type where the table flap drops down when not in use
3. Those whose flaps can be stored elsewhere when not in use.

You should always check the mechanism for ease of use. It is advisable to check the different available types before buying

Other things you can keep in mind while buying the extending tables like the normal ones are:-
- your current decor so that the new addition complements the look
- choice of material amongst mahogany, oak, walnut, elm, pine etc.
- seating capacities
- shape of the table

Since it is antique tables you are looking at then  things like genuine dealers, condition of the table, restoration and alteration and value  are also relevantetc
